September 22
The Polish crew of Lviv under the command of Vladislav Langner, unwilling to give the city to the Germans, capitulated to the Red Army troops. The Russians did not fulfill the terms of surrender and captured Polish soldiers. The Second Battle of the Northern Front at Tomaszow-Lubelski began (until September 23). The Third Reich and the USSR agree on the course of the demarcation line in Poland. Red Army troops entered Bialystok and Brzest, abandoned by the Germans. During the siege of Warsaw, Colonel-General Werner von Fritsch, the former head of the OKH, the only general of the Wehrmacht who died in the September campaign, dies.
September 23rd
General Stefan Domb-Birnatsky disbanded the Northern Front. In Krasnobrod, an attack by 25 Greater Poland Lancers (30 Lancers survived) resulted in the capture of the city and the capture of the headquarters of the 8th German Infantry Division. After being damaged by German missiles, the power plant ceased to exist at Warsaw's Polish Radio.
September 24th
General Vladislav Langer met in Ternopil with Commander of the Ukrainian Soviet Front, Commander Semen Timoshenko, and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Ukrainian SSR Nikita Khrushchev to agree on the details of the surrender. There was no drinking water in Warsaw. The Germans are dropping propaganda leaflets over Warsaw calling for the surrender of the city.
September 25th
Warsaw experienced heavy aerial bombardment and artillery fire - this day was called "wet Monday." French aircraft bomb the Zeppelin factory in Friedrichshafen. In Berlin, Hitler issued a decree on the organization of military administration in the "occupied, former Polish territories." In Germany, food rations for bread and flour were introduced. The Soviets shot soldiers of the Pinsk flotilla in Mokras.
September 26th
At 17:30 in the forest near Goretsky Kostelnov, Generals Emil Krukovich-Przedzhimirsky and Jan Krushevsky signed an act of surrender of the combined forces of General Przedzhimirsky's army and General Krushevsky's task force. The Warsaw garrison repels the enemy's attack.
September 27th
Morance was the last attack of the Polish cavalry in the September campaign. The commander of the Warsaw defense, General Rommel, decided to capitulate. The "Grey Ranks" are being created in Warsaw. In Berlin, Hitler presented a plan for an attack on France in November 1939. The underground Polish Victory Service was established in Warsaw, forming the core of the Home Army, headed by General Michal Tokarzewski.
